Civil Service Club meet-up to watch the game

18 January 2025

London and Southern-based members got together on Saturday afternoon to watch the Bradford home game in a private room in the Civil Service Club, in Central London.

Chairman Dave Brown is the organiser and, with such gatherings proving to be a real success, he looks set to be making the necessary similar arrangements for the remainder of the televised United fixtures (listed below).

He said: “Despite the result we had a really enjoyable time at the CSC. It’s good to be able to get a private room where United fans can watch the game together, voice their opinions and have a bit to eat and drink in a very relaxed environment.

“I have to say that our youngest guest – Violet Millington – was an absolute delight.

“We’ll be booking a room at the Civil Service Club for all of our Sky games between now and the end of the season, and ALL Carlisle fans are welcome to join us, not just London Branch members.

“All we ask is that people let us know as soon as possible, certainly before the day of the game, if they’re planning on joining us. This allows us to book the right size of room and to prepare properly.”

Check the fixtures below and, if you want to join us at the CSC to watch the game, send an email to Dave at chairman@cusclb.com so he can add you to the attendance list. Remember to include details of your guests.

Having brought the star of the show along at the weekend, Al Millington said: “I think it’s fair to say that Violet loved her daddy/daughter trip to the CSC but spent more time reading her comic books than watching the football.

“This was probably just as well!

“As always I loved catching up with fellow Branch members, and introducing them to Vi, but, when it comes to the football, I’m just not sure we can get out of the mess we’re in. I just hope I’m wrong with that.”

The televised fixtures (with CSC room booking timings to allow you to plan your day):
Notts County v United, Tuesday 28 January (7pm to 10pm)
Newport v United, Tuesday 11 February (7pm to 10pm)
United v Walsall, Tuesday 4 March (7pm to 10pm)
United v Bromley, Saturday 22 March (2.30pm to 5.30pm)
Chesterfield v United, Tuesday 1 April (7pm to 10pm)

Remember to let Dave know that you’re coming as soon as you possibly can.
