Thursday night celebrations
27 February 2025

The regular get-togethers at the Civil Service Club in London, to watch United’s televised fixtures, brought smiles all round for the Barrow game as a real tussle of an encounter was won by a solitary strike from Matt Dennis.

“We had a fantastic turnout for the Cumbrian derby,” organiser Dave Brown told us. “A few of our regulars were joined by visitors Alex Carruthers and grandson Matty, Amanda’s dad Tony, and Tom, who had seen our advert for the event on our FaceBook page.

“Tom, 22, lives in Greenwich, having moved down from Carlisle just over four years ago. He had a great time with us and we’re hoping to see more of him at future gatherings.”

United’s three points took them to within two points of safety on the night, with celebrations in the room matching the scenes on the terraces, such was the importance of the win.

“We’ll be booking a room at the Civil Service Club for the remaining televised Sky games between now and the end of the season, and ALL Carlisle fans are welcome to join us, not just London Branch members,” Dave added.

“All we ask is that people let us know as soon as possible, certainly before the day of the game, if they’re planning on joining us. This allows us to book the right size of room and to prepare properly.”

Check the fixtures below and, if you want to join us at the CSC to watch the game, send an email to Dave at chairman@cusclb.com so he can add you to the attendance list.
