CUFC Hospitality 6 September 2025
Never did I expect to see the day when Carlisle were in the same League as Truro. How times have changed!
This was probably not the most exciting game to look forward to. The date was convenient though as by adding a couple of days to a week’s break in The Lake District I was able to take up a Hospitality Package won through the CUSCLB 40 Club draws.
With the addition of the Hospitality Suites in the refurbished East Stand there are now more options to choose from. I always favour the East Stand as that is the side of the ground I first watched games from in the late 1960’s.
Back in the day the East side was one large terrace known as The Scratching Shed. I chose the Kingmoor Park Cumbria Lounge and was pleased to be joined by Andrew Dobinson, my Niece’s husband James and his match day pal Ben. James and Ben live in Carlisle and are regular attendees at Carlisle games.
Hoping to be the 36th Pro!

The Hospitality Agenda was very similar to that previously enjoyed in Foxy’s with food and drink served to the table, the chance to buy Golden Gamble Tickets and to enter a prediction competition. Matchday tickets are also included.
A Q&A session was held with Morgan Feeney and Jordan Jones. I always think this is perhaps a punishment for daring to get injured – “Go out there and speak to those lot”.
We were pleased to have the opportunity to spend time talking to Simon Clarkson – clearly he is enjoying his role as The Supporter Liaison Officer.
The seats we were allocated in the East Stand provided a good view although we did have to avoid the barrier at head height just in front of us. This wasn’t a problem though once we got used to a little ducking and stretching in order to follow play.
On taking our seats it was a pleasure to say hello to a relaxed John Nixon who was sat in the row behind.
As for the match, Luke Armstrong scored twice in the first 12 minutes at which point it looked like a 6-0 was on the cards. Carlisle were always in control and Regan Linney scored a wonder goal in the 60th minute with the game finishing 3-0.
Interestingly there is a tenuous link between Truro and Manchester United. One of the penalty takers for Grimsby in their recent League Cup victory over Man. Utd. - Jaze Kabia - signed for Grimsby after firing National League South side Truro City, to the title on the final day of last season. Apologies to the Man Utd. Supporter in our group for mentioning this yet again!
The day was one to remember with the excellent Match Day Hospitality on top of a 3-0 win for Carlisle. I thoroughly recommend taking up one of the Hospitality Packages if you have the chance.
I must thank Simon Clarkson and Jasmine Dent for their help in arranging the Hospitality Booking not helped by my request to increase the number of people attending. In particular, Jasmine was very patient in dealing with my string of emails.
Much discussion was had in the days leading up to the Truro match on the relocation of away fans to the Waterworks End. The Daily Express even carried an article on the day with the headline “800-mile trip for Truro fans and there’s no roof on the away end”. The piece included a large photo of the Waterworks End.
Slightly over the top as Carlisle Supporters have had their share of uncovered away ends. Some will remember getting soaked at Brighton’s temporary home at Preston Park. Also several wet and windy days at Gillingham where we were located in the inappropriately named “Temporary Stand”.
