Meeting Place
Charters Bar, Town Bridge, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE1 1EH
A large Dutch barge permanently moored to the banks of the river Nene close to the centre of Peterborough. Up to 12 real ales from the Oakham brewery and micros from around the country are available in the downstairs bar. Upstairs is a Pan Asian / Thai restaurant which sells very reasonably priced scran. Charters is allegedly the largest converted barge in the country and certainly the largest floating real ale boozer.
Other Boozers and Food Outlets Worth a Visit
The Brewery Tap, 80 Westgate, Peterborough, PE1 2AA Tel: 01733 358500
Another Oakham ales outlet, this large modern converted pub claims to be Europe’s’ largest brew pub. In much the same excellent vein as Charters it sells reasonably priced Thai food and lots of real ales. Close to the railway station members are likely to pop in here either en route to Charters or post match before getting the train back to the smoke.
Drapers Arms, 29–31, Cowgate, Peterborough, PE1 1LZ Tel: 01733 847570
Weatherspoons pub with a good reputation, close to the station and town centre. Serves the usual cheap and cheerful spoons range but also stocks a good range of alternating guest ales from local micro breweries. Real cider is also available.
Inside the ground a decent range of pies are available but no alcohol. There are a few food spots along London Road and a burger bar outside the ground

How To Get There
London Road is situated on the A15 at the edge of the town centre and is fairly well signposted.
By Train
The group save train is the 10.22am out of King Cross, arriving in Peterborough 11.38. Cost is £48 per group of four so return fares should be in the region of £12-£15 each depending on numbers. If you would like to join the group travel, please email travel@carlislelondonbranch.org.
It’s about two thirds of a mile from the station to the ground. Do a right out the station and follow station road round till you reach the main road, the A15. Turn right again along the A15 and cross over a large round about. Follow the main road round to the left until you reach Bridge Street on the right. Head down there and it will take you to the river and into London Road. Charters Bar is moored on the far bank of the river on the right hand side as you cross the bridge. The football ground is further along London Road on the left.

By Car & Where To Park
Exit the A1 at junction 16 and take the A15 towards Peterborough. Follow this for about 5 miles and you will reach the footie ground on the right.
Remarkably there is a parking close to the ground in the Horse Fair Meadow and Pleasure Fair council pay and display car parks. For more info on getting to London Road please click here.

What’s the Ground Like?
Like many grounds in tier 3 it’s a mixture of old and new with two fairly large all seated stands either side of the pitch and good old fashion terraces behind the goals. The modern smart looking South Stand is used for families and has row of executive boxes between the upper and lower tiers. On the other side of the pitch is the older Main North Stand which accommodates around 750 away fans in A Block closest to Moy’s End Terrace where travelling support can stand. At the opposite end of the field is the London Road Terrace for home fans. I’m not sure if Posh Fans would appreciate the comparison but in many ways, is it the most similar ground to Brunton Park in the division.
