Brunton Park Diary

Jan 8th (Fri)

Millwall is confirmed as off. Several transfer rumours do the rounds including Coleman wishing to make Madine’s move to Coventry a permanent one, Murphy going off to Shrewsbury or one of any number of interested parties and Scott Dobie being linked with a loan move to Aberdeen that turns about a case of mistaken identity by one of the local papers. Stephen Dobbie of Swansea City was supposedly the correct party involved in the rumour – you couldn’t make it up.

Jan 12th (Tue)

Ahead of the Southend Utd away game on March 20th, it’s announced that a live fans forum will take place on the Friday evening at the Park Inn Hotel from 1730. A number of club representatives will be present to field questions and shoe throwing will be strictly forbidden on the night.

Although nothing appears to have been announced at this time, it would be an idea to have it organised so that either the hosting hotel or one/two nearby were doing a special deal for fans travelling with the intention of attending both the forum and the match.

As anticipated a week earlier, Pericard confirms his decision to turn down the generous offer to stay as the alleged top earner at frozen, windswept, oft-flooded, Brunton Park to take up a footballer-for-hire position at a club likely to be somewhere near his friends and family in the south. Fool!

The N&S tips five players on our radar as possible replacements for Pericard. Although making a brief sub appearance in the Birmingham cup tie, the final name has been linked with a loan move to lowly Brighton having seemingly fallen out of favour at the City Ground

ENOCH SHOWUNMI, 27, Leeds United.
LEWIS GUY, 24, Doncaster Rovers
SCOTT VERNON, 26, Colchester United
TRESOR KANDOL, 28, Leeds United
JOE GARNER, 21, Nottingham Forest

Other names mentioned on the messageboard include Kevin Kyle (ex-Sunderland), presently at cash-strapped Kilmarnock, free agent Michael Misfud (ex-Coventry) and Richard Brodie, the prolific York City striker.

Jan 13th (Weds)

One man definitely on the move is part-keeper, part-blockade Matty Glennon with his release by Huddersfield allowing him to join Bradford City.

Peter Murphy reveals his frustration at being dropped after the Norwich victory and then not featuring in the Everton game in an interview with the News and Star.

It’s reported that GA is hoping to imminently arrange a friendly to give vital pitch time on grass to key players who are returning from injury or lacking match sharpness and in particular, Thirlwell, Offiong, Anyinsah and Bridge-Wilkinson.

Fans' Forum

The fans forum has been confirmed for 19th March, the evening before the Southend game.

Live on Radio Cumbria, it's an early start ie 6pm.

For those staying over I have looked at two options:-

1. The hotel where the event is - The Park Inn Hotel in Southend SS1 2AL

http://www.rezidorparkinn.com/cs/Satellite?c=Page&language=en&pagename=ParkInn/Page/parkinnFrontpage

For B & B it looks like £89 for single, £109 for double and £119 for family room ( one guest U17 )

2. Travelodge 0.4 miles away £35 for room only - up to 3 adults
