VHTB - 10/02/10 - Wembley Here We Come!

What a night. So typical Carlisle and like so many, my head is sore this morning. I will circulate ticket details for Wembley ASAP and options for the day will be discussed at the Branch meeting tomorrow.

It goes without saying that if you want a ticket through the Branch you will need to ensure you have enough money in your TDS.

To top up, send a cheque payable to CUSCLB to Bob Brookes at 51 Lavender Grove, York YO26 5RX

Norwich Weekend

For those interested in a two night break around the Norwich game Mike Carruthers has initial quotes for The Holiday Inn and The Ramada hotels for two nights (Friday 7th & Saturday 8th May). Both hotels are about three miles from the City Centre. They are on bus routes with buses running at least half hourly through the day although less frequently in the evening. A taxi to the centre costs in the region of £7 to £8. The initial quote are £85 for the Ramada per person for two nights including full breakfast based on standard rooms. The Holiday Inn is £95 per person for two nights including full breakfast based on standard rooms. Links for both hotels are below. Please email summertrip@carlislelondonbranch.org by Friday 19th February if you are interested in coming along. Mike needs to know:

1. Names of those in your party
2. Your room requirements

Double Room
Twin Room (single travellers willing to share a twin please make this clear)
Single Room

Once he has responses he will confirm the prices and contact you again asking for money, this is the point at which you will be committed. At this stage we are not sure if an evening meal will be organised but he will consider this based on the size of the party.

A Great Cause

Long Term London Branch member Alistair Blackett and his fiance Jackie will be taking part in Cancer Research UK's Relay for Life, a 24 hour walking marathon, on 14 and 15 August at Swanwick in Derbyshire.

He will be doing this at Swanwick in Derbyshire as part of a team known as "Cocktail Crew".

The name stems from a non alcoholic bar that he will be running for the benefit of other participants and supporters selling juice/soft drinks etc the proceeds from which will all go to Cancer Research.

If you'd like to support Alistair, Jackie and their friends in this worthwhile endeavour you can do so by visiting their website http://www.donatetomyrelay.org/cocktailcrew
