VHTB - 27/06/09

Not much activity to report of late. David Raven signed a one year contract. Our goalkeeping coach and kit man have moved on and John Nixon will continue in his role but not receive a salary. No firm offers have been received for either Danny Graham or Cleveland Taylor.

The funeral of Derek Lacey was very well attended. We will be running a tribute to him in the next HTB so please send in any memories to editor@carlislelondonbranch.org. The Branch will be looking to do something long lasting in his memory.

Summer Social

A message from Tony Little - The event takes place at "Linchens" next Saturday the 4th July, where Sally and I have organised the Sports Day with refreshments and BBQ. We have had a chat with the weatherman and we are assured that as it is the final weekend of Wimbledon fortnight the weather should be good. In general all you need is to turn up and enjoy yourselves, you may also wish to bring additional refreshments I am sure our fridge will be able to cope.

Meeting Places

The first home game is likely to attract a lot of LB members. We need suggestions of somewhere to meet up as the Rugby Club is often too busy and the Linton Holme has proved not that popular.

Can anyone help with meeting places for some of our new away venues this season ? Please have a look on our website and drop me a line if you can help.

Social

Tony Little will arrange an evening at the Comedy Store at Leicester Square, including a meal beforehand for 3rd September. Please contact him at social@carlislelondonbranch.org to register your interest.

It is now membership renewal time of the year and the only way to guarantee no price increase is before the AGM where subs are set ! Please bear in mind the two London games in August where tickets will only be ordered for renewed members with monies in their TDS. The season kicks off six weeks from today.

Keep the Faith,

Simon Clarkson
