Virtual Hit The Bar - 21/11/11
21/11/11 20:43
It was a great turn out at Sheffield United on Saturday and a very enjoyable day even if our performance lacked any spark until the last 15 minutes and even then we didn't manage a single shot on target. 1-0 was a fair result and we will need to examine our options in the January transfer window if we are to have a chance of the play offs.
The big topic of the day on the journey and in the pub pre-match was the announcement of our plans to move to Kingmoor to a new 12,000 seater stadium. You can hear Andrew Jenkins and John Nixon on Radio Cumbria on Friday nights sports programme.
The rumours around the pub were: 1. There has been an agreement between the council, the club and an unnamed developer to build the stadium at Kingmoor Park 2. The council will own the land and rent it to the club on a 250 year lease at a peppercorn rental. The club will own the stadium 3. The stadium will be built by the developer at no cost to the club. Meanwhile the developer will look to build a retail and entertainment complex including a multiplex cinema. 4. The move will be in 4 years time. 5. After the move the club will be able to sell Brunton Park and the surrounding assets and use this money to plough into the club including team building.
Obviously these are only plans at the moment and the club has been quick to state that they are keen to consult with fans starting with an exhibition on Thursday of this week where there will be a Director in attendance to ask questions. We hope that we will have a member there who will report back to the branch. There were very divided opinions among members on Saturday - what are your views. Send them in to Geoff Graham to appear in Hit The Bar editor@carlislelondonbranch.org

Virtual Hit The Bar - 13/11/11
14/11/11 19:08
Rory Loy's goal yesterday deserved better than Charlton away for the 2nd round but remember Norwich 2 years ago. Keep an eye on the travel pages on the website to make sure of the date and time, ticket prices and meeting place. www.carlislelondonbranch.org
Last Thursday night saw 20 members enjoying the company of John Nixon. John explained in great detail about the complexities of running a football club on topics ranging from finances and transfer contracts to Fred Story's loan, the EPPP, our relationship with Manchester City, the transfer of 14 year old goalkeeper Henderson to Man U and why they scan the tckets at Brunton Park. John was very open and responsive to our questions and the comments in the bar afterwards were about how lucky we are to have him as an owner compared to most clubs at our level. He also advised us that there will be an announcement on the club website at 9pm next Thursday about the future of Brunton Park immediately after the AGM. www.carlisleunited.co.uk
