AGM Tuesday 5th July Houses of Parliament
Following last years very successful AGM at the Tower of London, we have another excellent venue for this year courtesy of Carlisle MP John Stevenson. We meet at 6.15pm and then John will take us on a tour of Parliament until 8pm. The AGM will take place in one of the committee rooms. At 9.15pm we are hoping to visit the terrace for drinks. Please book your places by emailing Dave Brown on information@carlislelondonbranch.org.
Remember Japan for Makiko by Buying Murph's Signed Shirt
Have you assumed that everything is now fine in Japan since the Tsunami because the TV news has moved on? The situation is still desperate. Member Makiko Kato Brookes comes from Tagajo/Shichigahama where her family and friends still live and which was devastated by the Tsunami. Power, water and sewage drains have been severely disrupted and there is little financial support for those that still have houses no matter the level of damage as the authorities are understandably focusing on the homeless and the major functions such as the power stations. There are no easy ways to donate to the people of Japan so Makiko is raising money which she is sending to the agencies in her home town to provide some relief. To this end she is selling her treasured collection of signed Carlisle United shirts with the first of these being a shirt worn by Peter Murphy and signed by the current United team (the signing was organised by Peter at the recent United Awards Dinner). Please put in a bid for this shirt on ebay up to next Sunday 29th May:

June Branch Meeting - Date Changed
To fit in with the release of the fixtures and various committee members holidays, the June Branch Meeting has been changed to Tuesday June 28th
Globe Theatre - Branch Visit
Mike Carruthers is looking at organising a trip to The Globe Theatre on Saturday 30th July to see Alls Well That Ends Well (see link below). The afternoon performance starts at 14.00 and the plan is to buy standing tickets for The Yard and these cost £5 per ticket. There may also be an option to take a guided tour (subject to availability), this lasts about 30 minutes and also allows you to visit the exibition (the exibition is unguided). This would cost approx £10 and depending on numbers we may need to book. However we would need to meet 11.30 to 12.00 for this as we need to vacate the Theatre by 13.00.
http://www.shakespearesglobe.com/theatre/on-stage/alls-well-that-ends-well
Mike will be booking tickets next weekend so if you are interested, email summertrip@carlislelondonbranch.org by Friday 27th May and specify if you want to book tickets for: 1. The Tour and the Play. 2. The Play only.

Next Supporters' Match - Watford Calling!
Chris Tembey gives an update after the impressive 3-0 win at Harlow Town " Watford IFC have entered an 11-a-side Comp in late June/Early July up in Leeds and wondered if we fancied a friendly on Sat June 11th as means of a warm up for them. I understand we are way out of season by then and some are away on the Summer trip but thought I'd put it out there and if there is enough interest I will obviously sort this out. The fixture would be played in Watford at their facilities."

Huge Thanks to Simon Clarkson
Branch Chairman Simon Clarkson has passed on responsibility to me, Dave Brown, for the VHTB (never volunteer after a few pints!) so that he can focus on liaising with the club and the supporters groups while also fulfilling his duties as Treasurer at Sutton Cricket Club. A huge thanks to Simon for the dedication and success of VHTB over the last 4-5 years.

Is your club’s fanzine deserving of wider recognition? Are the writers capable of churning out page-upon-page of witty, informative and entertaining copy, yet still crazy enough to be standing out in all weathers to sell their wares? This can include online content as well, but a printed version must at least occasionally be produced for the fanzine to be eligible for the award.
