Welcome to BoMo!

Now I know some hardy Cumbrians may well be thinking of taking an early spring break..well what about a weekend in sunny Bournemouth while the lads are playing down here on Saturday March the 17th.
I thought I’d do my bit for the local Tourism Office and coax a few of you to come and enjoy this beautiful place..and enjoy a victory over the Cherries at the same time!
Bournemouth with its 7 miles of sandy golden beaches and its stunning views over to the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Purbeck is perhaps one of the south coast’s favourite places. Brighton? All bricks and stones on their so called beach..and their pier burnt down!
Don't just believe what Broadey has to say......come see for yourself!
With its sparkling sea, the vibrant cosmopolitan town of Bournemouth has it all - a vast variety of shops, restaurants and holiday accommodation, buzzing nightlife and endless countryside with beautiful award winning gardens and watersports galore. There is certainly plenty to see and do down here..you may even bump into the odd exiled Cumbrian.
And what about the Cherries? Well AFC Bournemouth are a bit like us..they are having a decent sort of season so far and a local businessman..an estate agent with a strong local connection, life long fan and loads of followers (sound familiar?) has really put a helluva lot of money into the club and the fans are responding with increased home gates.
I reckon they’ll give us a good old match. Here’s a few names to look out for..
Wesley Thomas..a canny, decent player and top goalscorer. He was signed permanently from Crawley in January following a loan period. Could be a threat..
Adam Barrett..a quiet, steady character, well liked and respected. A decent central defender and captain..
Matthew Tubbs..fan’s favourite. A local lad who is at the club for the third time..the locals will be inspiring him.
The fans? A friendly lot. And not all old..it’s a bit of a myth that Bournemouth is just full of old folk. There are 2 universities, a very large college and even the country’s largest college for chiropractors. So, there’ll be plenty of youthful choruses coming from the home fans.
And on the day folks, if you are in town for the weekend or if you’re coming down for the game, I’ve managed to arrange with a pub not too far from where I work (I am the Chief Executive of a charity which runs a huge community centre about a mile from Deene Court (or Seward Stadium as we’re supposed to call it now!)) to allow all the Carlisle lads and lasses to go for a pint and lunch. The Cricketers is a very friendly family pub and Sheila the landlady has told me she’ll put on a few local beers and she’s also said all the family are welcome..she serves burgers and chips for under £4. It’s a brisk 15 minute walk from there to the ground..
So come on down folks! A warm welcome and temperate climate await you..

The auction is listed on the message board so click here and leave your comments to keep the thread live. There are also articles on the official club site, John McGee's excellent column in the EN&S and our own website. Jon Colman has also promised an article for later in the week in the EN&S.

Project India - Sam Clarkson
Lots of us know Sam Clarkson - Chairman Simon Clarkson's son - many of us have travelled with him to games since he was a wee lad. Well he is now a fine young man and has been selected to visit Southern India for 3 weeks next summer to help improve the infrastructure of a village as part of a team. He has to raise £2000 towards the project and to achieve this he is looking for people to sponsor him on a bike ride from St James Park Newcastle (spit!) to the hallowed turf of Brunton Park in time for our sponsored gamer on Easter \Monday (he is doing the ride on April 8th). Please email him with pledges samclarkson2010@gmail.com or complete a sponsor form next time you see him.
