VHTB - 22/02/10

A very flat performance at Swindon makes the next three games against relegation candidates a crucial part of the season where we need to get some points on the board to keep the necessary breathing space.

Don't forget the excellent Brunton Park diary is now updated on our website

http://www.carlislelondonbranch.org/news/bruntondiary_files/

Wembley

We have been allocated blocks in the £34 / £17 and £24 / £12 sections only, as the £44 / £22 tickets being sold by CUFC direct were taken by season ticket holders.

The Huddersfield defeat in midweek was a reality check after the highs of the previous few days. Whilst we have Wembley to look forward to, it's the bread and butter of the league programme that we need to focus on. Greg Abbott has been rewarded with a 12 month extension to his current contract.

VHTB - 14/02/10

A cracking performance against MK Dons yesterday. It was nearly time to shave hair off for a second member Tony Little this week ( who's pledge was if we scored 6 ) following Ken Hullock's hair losing after making it to Wembley.

In what has turned out to be a brilliant week, the Branch has broken it's membership record with 10 year old Dylan McCormick becoming our 323rd Member.

JPT Final at Wembley – Sunday 28th March ko 1330

**Updated 21st March***

Tickets

Anyone who still needs tickets can only collect in person from Brunton Park and must be on the database.

Pre Match Meeting

Civil Service Club ( CSC ) http://www.civilserviceclub.org.uk/index.htm

Tickets will be distributed here unless you make alternative arrangements.

From 9am members will be able to gather for a full breakfast selection and have access to the bar. A chance to mingle and enjoy the pre match build up.

We need to give the CSC an indication of who will be having breakfast so please get in touch.

Merchandise

Jugsy and Jon have finalised T-shirts, pens and balloons that will make up the contents of a £6.50 goody bag which will be paid for in advance from TDS.

There are only a few out of the 100 left now and are only available for collection at the CSC. Advanced orders are therefore essential.

Travel from CSC

From the Civil Service Club the quickest way to Wembley Park for the walk up Olympic Way (not Wembley Way, as most people seem to call it) is either Embankment to Baker St. on the Bakerloo, then either change to the Met. Line to Wembley Park or Jubilee Line to Finchley Road, then on to the Met. Line to Wembley Park. From the London Branch pre match meeting at the Civil service Club another option is to walk to Westminster and straight on to the Jubilee Line.

Chiltern stop extra trains at Wembley Stadium station on event days. If you are driving down from the North you could park at one of the station commuter car parks along the route (e.g. Warwick Parkway), then travel to Wembley usually without hassle.

Chiltern’s Aylesbury service by-passes Wembley Park and stops at Harrow-on-the-Hill; it is still fairly quick to cross platforms and travel back to Wembley Park.

We are running a Routemaster bus that is now fully booked with an 11am departure from the Civil service Club. The bus will be just one way thus allowing Members post match to head home rather than be compelled to return to Central London.

If you are willing to help with any of the Wembley co-ordination either on the day or in the run up, please get in touch at chairman@carlislelondonbranch.org.

VHTB - 10/02/10 - Wembley Here We Come!

What a night. So typical Carlisle and like so many, my head is sore this morning. I will circulate ticket details for Wembley ASAP and options for the day will be discussed at the Branch meeting tomorrow.

It goes without saying that if you want a ticket through the Branch you will need to ensure you have enough money in your TDS.

To top up, send a cheque payable to CUSCLB to Bob Brookes at 51 Lavender Grove, York YO26 5RX

He will be doing this at Swanwick in Derbyshire as part of a team known as "Cocktail Crew".

The name stems from a non alcoholic bar that he will be running for the benefit of other participants and supporters selling juice/soft drinks etc the proceeds from which will all go to Cancer Research.

Brunton Park Diary

Jan 26th (Tue)
Gateshead manager Ian Bogie will have another forward option to choose from when he picks his next side (sorry) as the legend that is Brian Wake joins the Conference team on a free from Greenock Morton. With 50 goals from 188 games, his record is nothing to be sniffed at.

OFFSIDEAGAIN, OFFTARGETAGAIN, OFFTODARLOAGAIN or whatever you want to call him finally scores!!!!!!
Enough said.

Jan 29th (Fri)
After some inevitable rumours linking him with a return to Carlisle, Lee Peacock joins Grimsby Town on an 18-month deal. The football’s going to be rubbish but the fish and chips will be terrific. Swindon’s decision to give him a free was ironically precipitated by Pericard’s arrival.

Jan 30th (Sat)
The Youth Team’s home match against Preston is called off due to a frozen pitch.

It’s confirmed that Carlisle took 20 year-old striker Jordan Connerton on a short trial during the week from Lancaster City. Several clubs have already been linked with the player including most recently Preston as well as Crewe, Swindon, Motherwell, Leeds and Derby. Described as strong with a good touch, great awareness and a quality finisher, Jordan already as 30 goals to his credit this season.

CARLISLE UTD 2 LEYTON ORIENT 2
The lessons from Tuesday aren’t learnt as two points are thrown away against the O’s. It had all started so well under a newly employed 4-4-2 system with a great move for Anyinsah’s opener on 14 and then Harte powered in a header from Robson’s corner just before half-time. Sloppy goals on 60 and 77 bring parity. Smokin’ Joe goes off early with an injury and is therefore a major doubt for the Tuesday game at Colchester.

* Player Ratings: Collin 7.00, Keogh 7.67 (star man), Livesey 6.00, Harte 6.67, Horwood 6.50, Hurst 5.67, Thirlwell 4.67, Clayton 7.17, Robson 6.00, Madine 4.33, Anyinsah 7.17. Sub: Offiong 3.50
