Virtual Hit The Bar - 29/04/12
30/04/12 19:55
This week has been dominated by the sad news of Lee Miller's partner Donna passing away. I am sure that I speak for everyone in the branch in passing on our condolences. At the Exeter game Lee and his three sons came onto the pitch at half time to thunderous applause and afterwards Lee tweeted that it had meant a huge amount to the boys. I gather that there were few dry eyes in the crowd. Kristina Carr has appealed to Carlisle fans to support a charity that Donna's mum is collecting for in her memory - the Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow. If you would like to make a small pledge in Donna's memory you can make a PayPal gift by transferring money to indonnasmemory@gmal.com . If you would rather not use PayPal you can email indonnasmemory@gmal.com and you will receive a response telling you how you can transfer money to the fund.

50 members had a cracking day at the sponsored game on Monday spoiled only by the dropping of two points and the loss of Lee Miller - now out for the season. Can we still make the play offs without the abilities of Miller and Chris Chantler? Well certainly the support of the London Branch at Stevenage next Tuesday and Sheffied Wednesday on the Saturday will spur the boys on so I hope to see lots of you there.

Virtual Hit The Bar - 02/04/12
02/04/12 20:12
What a result on Saturday. On the Huddersfield message board a fan said " Back to square 1 after last weeks supposed step forward. Outclassed by a team I certainly wouldn't want to meet again in may!". It was also great to see a decent crowd at last and universal support for Greg and Kav. The club did some great marketing with free shirts for those buying tickets in advance, opening the bars at 12pm with special prices before 2pm and regular exhortations from Greg, Kav and the players for fans to to get down to BP. You can read reports in the Huddersfield Examiner and the Guardian.

Matt Tasker lets us know about a competition run by League sponsor nPower. Npower have launched a facebook app called 'fanpower' I've put the link below. In brief it's a virtual stadium and we are encouraging fans all around the country to take their seat and select their favourite team. The competition has two elements, one based on competition entrants by club and the second by the most social noise created. Once registered in the app it will monitor and award points for every time you mention your club, manager or players on facebook. You can also link it to a twitter account such as the London Branch account and it will monitor the tweets sent and award points from there too.
The first team to 'fill' their clubs real average attendance will win £10,000 for their club.
The team that makes the most combined social noise will then win £20,000 for their club
There are also chances to win individual prizes such as signed shirts, tickets and other bits and bobs. This could be a good way to help raise money for the floodlights alongside 'shine the light' https://www.facebook.com/npowerfootballleague#!/npowerfootballleague?sk=app_177019582409952
We are already 5th so join in now so we can earn some serious dosh for Carlisle.
