VHTB - 03/01/09
04/01/09 16:10
Despite all efforts todays game against Walsall fell foul to the frost.
Hit The Bar!
All contributions for HTB are gladly received before the deadline in 3 weeks. What have you made of the season so far ? Tell us what you think and see your comments in print. It's your mag, so please contribute reports, letters and general craic. Colour pictures really enhance the magazine - not football action on the pitch because of copyright. Why not write a letter to the Editor. What is your reaction to Greg and now Dennis Booth getting contracts for 18 months. Have you heard any Degsy Balls ? Has he made many recently ? Any Carlisle/Football jokes would also be welcome.
If anyone has friends, family, colleagues that support Peterborough, Brighton, Crewe, Yeovil or Southend - can you ask them to write "The Opposition View" for Hit The Bar.
Please email Dave Brown : editor@carlislelondonbranch.org for the format and all your contributions.
Nice One Skip Competition - Correction
There is a slight change to the great competition in Hit The Bar! to win a signed copy of Andy Hall’s Nice One Skip – the story of Peter McConnell’s footballing life as Carlisle’s longest serving skipper who previously spend many years at Leeds.Unfortunately Stan Ternent and Hugh McIlmoyle weren’t available to add their autographs so the book is signed by: Carlisle Players Peter McConnell, George McVitie, Mick Tait, Tom Clarke (70-75) and Leeds players Peter Lorimer and Eddie Gray.
The competition is easy to enter:
1. Visit the branch website: www.carlislelondonbranch.org
2. Find out the exact date that the London Branch was founded
3. Send the answer (and your name and address via email to Dave Brown editor@carlislelondonbranch.org or post to Dave Brown, Park House, 191 Stafford Road, Wallington SM6 9BT
The first correct answer out of the hat at the Branch meeting will win the prize.
Alternatively if you want to buy a copy for £10 please let me know.

Spare CUFC Programmes
David Weir has contacted me to say " I recently went through all my footy programmes and have most of the CUFC home programmes from seasons 83-84 to 93-94, including ones against the sadly defunct Wimbledon and Wycombe's first ever game in the league. There are some other odds and sods, including some rather obscure Sherpa Van Trophy mini-match magazines and Issue 12 of 'So Jack Ashurst, Where's My Shirt'! I just want them to go to a good home and cover any postage costs."
Please contact David at david.weir@mitie.co.uk and he will send the spreadsheet listing to any interested parties.
*** Away games come thick and fast from the end of January. If you are ordering tickets please keep your TDS topped up . You can check your balance on our website at http://www.carlislelondonbranch.org/travel/ticketdeposit.html.
