Carlisle is required to upgrade the floodlights at Brunton Park to comply with current Football League regulations. Clair Fidler, the club’s Sales and Marketing Manager, looked for corporate donations towards the costs so that as little revenue as possible is diverted from supporting the team. She approached the London Branch and we immediately agreed to donate £1,000 from our regular fundraising activities. The cheque was donated on the pitch at the game against Brentford on October 8th by the Branch’s new president, Carlisle Legend, Hugh McIlmoyle.

However the London Branch felt that this could be an opportunity for all Carlisle fans to get involved and agreed to run a fundraising campaign with a total target of £5,000. We agreed to call this campaign “Shine The Light”. The club will be supporting our efforts and we will be running a number of fundraising activities in Carlisle and wherever Carlisle fans are based including a raffle where we are aiming to have some great prizes that aren’t available to buy.

We hope that all Carlisle fans will support the campaign to help OUR club. As Hugh McIlmoyle said “It is the supporters of a football club that are the most important people, they stay with the club through thick and thin.”
