London Branch Sponsorship

Every season the London Branch donates money to Carlisle United.

We are the match sponsors for home game against Orient. We also sponsor the United Player video highlights, a professional product that we are proud to be associated with. We are members of the Premier Club corporate draw and are always open to suggestions from CUFC as to how we can help with additional sponsorship. For the past two seasons, members have pooled their Teamcard points and donated them to the Youth Team who use the money ( £530 this season ) to purchase winter training gear.

United Scene Magazine

As one of the sponsors we get a half page in each issue to advertise whatever we want. This will ensure that our name is kept in front of Carlisle United fans, an important consideration given the number of young people who move from Cumbria to London and the South East each year. Ian Jardine also contributes a one page article on something topical.

David Wilkes

David Wilkes is again sponsored by the Carlisle London Branch supporters club. David is Carlisle United's Head of Centre of Excellence and has a UEFA Grade A coaching badge.

Not only does this give the London Branch an opportunity to donate money to the club, it will also show our commitment to the development of young footballers in Carlisle, something that Carlisle United will benefit greatly from.

The section below is (borrowed) from the Carlisle United Official Website and describes what David's job is and what he hopes to achieve:

“What does your job involve?”: “My main responsibility is the recruitment of players to the Centre of Excellence and to plan and provide the coaching for the coaches at the centres. I also have input with the YTS players and oversee the whole youth project in terms of equipment and organisation. It's all about driving things forward really. It involves health and safety, child protection and everything related to the centres. I work closely with Billy Barr, the Youth team coach, and we discuss training together. I do some coaching with the YTS as well as working at the centres.”

“What is happening in the future in your department?”: “With getting back in to the League we are expanding the Centre of Excellence, running more teams , so we can give more opportunities to youngsters. We are looking to expand the coaching network , again driving the whole thing forward and looking to improve in every area that we work on. Improving on what we do already has to be our main priority.”
